A little while ago, a photo of a cooler hack with Nomiku got super popular on our Facebook page and Instagram–it was a color-coordinated, practical, and easily-made perfect home for your Nomiku!
The photo was courtesy of a friend of @mellem_design, a Nomiku supporter who invented the hack. He generously took the time to shoot a step-by-step video tutorial so every Nommer could learn how to hack their Nomiku set-up like a pro!
This set-up is great, not only because it’s simple to do, but because it insulates and traps steam, adding to Nomiku’s efficiency and allows it to heat water even quicker. Plus, we just can’t get over pretty the cooler and Nomiku look together :)

The world’s water conservation efforts are no joke. We wanted to share this hack from our archives to help give you some tips and tricks on conserving water and energy when you sous vide.
For those of you who regularly sous vide, you’ll notice how quickly the water can evaporate and how much you may need to add water to your bath. Having a lid or some kind of covering on your water baths can save not only save you some trips to the sink, but also lots of water. Plus, custom containers like this cooler help insulate, meaning your Nomiku has to do less work, which means less energy consumption.
