We’re back in China after the long Chinese New Year break.
While we were in the US, we brainstormed and tested out solutions to our steam/friction issue. With support from D2MI, OpenROV, and Arthur at Autodesk, we’ve prototyped and started testing a magnetic coupling which will allow us to completely seal out the steam without adding friction. You can see the coupling at the end of the post and in the video here.
We’ve tested the coupling alone and are ready to test it in place in the Nomiku today. We will then complete at least 48 hours of continuous testing by the end of the week.
On Friday, we have a big meeting with our factory when we’ll discuss the results of the Design Verification Build (DVT) we did before Chinese New Year and get caught up with our design changes so the factory can prepare the right materials.
After the Friday meeting, we’ll start preparing materials for another build near the end of March, which will produce units we can submit to further testing to the powers above, while we continue testing our prototypes at high temperatures full time.
We’ll keep you updated as all these things develop and an exact ship date becomes clearer. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support.
