Today we went to a rapid prototyping company called A-Tech and had playtime.
Big names like Hasbro, Mattel, and VTech depend on this company to make their models for mass production and it looks like we will too.
Now, how can a place that makes toys make sous vides? Well, it turns out they have the machines and skills to model virtually anything. They have ten CNC machines running 24 hours at all times, an ATOS (Advanced Topometric Sensor) Optical Scanner, a 3D Systems Invision, a Perfactory RP machine, and the Freeform modeling system. The Freeform is what I’m trying out above and it’s like using AutoCAD in 4D, I can actually feel feedback as I sculpt a mold.
Our next step is to hand over our AutoCAD sketches and watch the CNC machine whirl. This is so exciting!
